What makes someone stand out and figuring out mine.

If you haven’t come across it, the point is: rather than trying to “blend in” or avoid being “too different,” today’s most visible personalities online stand out because of something distinct (Gary Vee’s intensity, Alex Hormozi’s nasal strip, and so on).

The conversation got me thinking: What’s mine?

Certainly not a physical trademark. I’ve got none, besides curly hair (which isn’t that unique!) And if I tried to adopt one, it would of course feel fake.

The best I can come up with is this: I am constantly connecting dots. I find meaning in everything.

Maybe it’s a small moment with my kids, a quick conversation with a friend, something I observed in nature, even an offhand comment from a stranger.

All these things, I’m grasping for lessons. I turn these interactions into stories and work out how it changes me.

Most of my posts here stem from these lessons. They start with something small and personal. They end with a takeaway you can use.

It’s not flashy. It’s probably not viral “brand” material. But I hope it’s meaningful.

If I could give this skill to my kids, or anyone really, I would. I feel like this unique quality serves me extremely well, both as a grounding skill when times are great and a calming companion when things are hard.

Because when you can pause in the middle of something hard and ask: What did this teach me? What will I take with me? You have earned the skill of turning every moment, good or bad, into something useful. Not just a blip or passing event.
